A Poem by B. Lapinski

I don't need any kind of format

My life is all twisted

and knotted

and nothing ever makes sense until the dust settles

why can't you just relax

have a cup of coffee

paint your nails

just sit down and shut the f**k up

and enjoy the day

enjoy our time together

we could make love on the kitchen table

toast our bread and butter it up together

you could let me ravage your insides

make a different strand of dna

out of whiskey and poetry

nine months from now

we could be drunk on wonderous literature

reciting verse in a forgotten language

the fireplace would breathe

the embers would clap

and again we would ravage one another

but this time

the circumstance would have no dna structure

i would take you on the sheepskin rug

file your dreams into sparkling dust

blowing them ever so gently into that fire
