Our Friendship

Written for my best friend Russ while he was battling cancer but I never shared with him

The days are hot,
The days are cold,
But always it's there,
Your friendship.

The times are good,
The times are bad,
But always it's there,
Your friendship.

Through thick and thin,
You've been by my side,
As I've been by yours,
With our friendship.

Through the rough spots,
And through the calm,
It was always there,
Our friendship.

I liked this one a lot. It's very optimistic, and full of simplicity, yet there's a definite reach towards something that not everyone can find--friendship. Furthermore, if you were to change the title to something related to a deeper meaning, it could add a zest to the poem previously unheard of. It could relate to God, to death, to maintaining a friendship when one moves away, maintaining a friendship after life gets in the way, etc. and this poem shows all these elements. It could totally allude to something higher, or elude to something deep, and I'm glad to have read it. Good stuff :)
