Scars

Scars

A Poem by John B. Bolling
"

"

Be not ashamed of what you have endured,

We are all damaged and looking for a cure.

Wear your scars, display them with pride,

Behind masks and shadows trauma cannot hide.

They are a badge of honor, your wooden cross,

You were granted life and paid the cost.

But life you still have, so live it well,

From blue skies the sorrows of rain never fell.

My favorite line from this is 'Behind masks and shadows trauma cannot hide.' Very true. There is no escaping the trauma of life. Really like this poem.
