Counting Losses

Counting Losses

A Poem by John B. Bolling
"

"

I live in a world of absolutes

Engage in all or nothing pursuits

Believing I will find some truth

That could lead me back to you

I speak only when inspired

Words come only when I am wired

Sleep deprived but hardly tired

Analyze what never transpired

I hide answers to avoid questions

The great dreamer's affection

Blank stares to avoid detection

From perceived loss of perception

I reject hope for sadness it causes

With intermittent stops and pauses

Yet even when it all comes up roses

I can't avoid counting my losses
