Cumbersome Sky

Cumbersome Sky

A Poem by John B. Bolling

Between crashing cars and passing trains

All I’ve accomplished has been in vain

Unable to reconcile truth from deceit

Find a silver lining within every defeat

Victory is measured by all that was lost

Calculate some method to justify the cost

That time cannot manufacture or replace

A void in the solemn darkness of space

Where the light is absorbed forevermore

This horrid scar is mine alone to abhor

A creation of rusted metal and swift rage

Tearing love and hope from my life’s page

Twisting every belief into a horrible lie

Blackened like stars in a cumbersome sky
