Right & Reality

Right & Reality

A Poem by John B. Bolling

While there is a discrepancy

Between right and reality

It is no reason to be worried

No justification to fear

For the day will soon come

When I disappear

Way beneath the gallows

Swathed in a ghoulish glow

It is not a source of alarm

No reason for fright

For death greets everyone

Frigid and impolite

Fractured circle incomplete

Uncertain future replete

No room for me to grow

No cause for concern

It is time for the rising sun

Only skin left to burn

Phosphoric odors permeate

These humble days saturate

It is no reason to turn away

It has already begun

The air shall soon escape

From these tired lungs

Destiny now within view

My reality becoming askew

It is what happens to all

No reason for dread

For the time has finally come

To learn how to be dead
