Sun Doesn't Shine on Me

Sun Doesn't Shine on Me

A Poem by John B. Bolling

Somewhere the sun is shining

But it doesn’t shine on me

Its rays must surely be blinding

But from here I can clearly see

Perhaps this night may end

Or perhaps it will be eternal

Regardless of where I stand

Each place seems so infernal

Somewhere the sun is shining

But it doesn’t shine on me

These thoughts need refining

Before I slip into obscurity

Perhaps a new day will dawn

Or it may stay dark forever

Even when I sleep I yawn

I already know better

Somewhere a day is breaking

Someday my time will come

Inside my soul is aching

Outside I long to run

Forgotten by my own shadow

I pray for eternality

But as my indignation grows

I turn to finality

Somewhere a sun is calling

But it never calls on me

Its rays must surely be blinding

But from here I can clearly see

Perhaps this darkness will cease

To the light it may capitulate

Regardless I long for release

From this melancholic state

yes I agree with the statements below that this piece is captivating and is related to, at least by one sun deprived soul. I found this to be a bit of sunshine within itself... with it's flow and eloquently rhythmic rhymes. It spoke first by it's title then sang a bitter sweet lament, that is morosely beautiful. i want to quote the entire poem but will single out this graceful verse...

"Forgotten by my own shadow
I pray for eternality
But as my indignation grows
I turn to finality"

Wonderful write!

All is dark and dreary when the sun fails to shine, and we must search for that place where its bright rays may warm us.....may you find such a place.....it is there for the taking!
A nice write!

The emotion stated in this piece is quite beautiful. A piece that many can identify with and a feeling that seems like it can last on forever. Eventually the sun will shine... and it will shine on each indivdual.
A well written piece... that will grab the understanding and the feeling of many.
