Sun Doesn't Shine on MeA Poem by John B. BollingSomewhere the sun is shining But it doesn’t shine on me Its rays must surely be blinding But from here I can clearly see Perhaps this night may end Or perhaps it will be eternal Regardless of where I stand Each place seems so infernal Somewhere the sun is shining But it doesn’t shine on me These thoughts need refining Before I slip into obscurity Perhaps a new day will dawn Or it may stay dark forever Even when I sleep I yawn I already know better
Somewhere a day is breaking Someday my time will come Inside my soul is aching Outside I long to run Forgotten by my own shadow I pray for eternality But as my indignation grows I turn to finality Somewhere a sun is calling But it never calls on me Its rays must surely be blinding But from here I can clearly see Perhaps this darkness will cease To the light it may capitulate Regardless I long for release From this melancholic state
