A Battle for the AftermathA Poem by Kyle Breutigam
Your touch saved us from falling
The glory of your homeland gave us hope Like a lighthouse you dictated us to change our route Our wills divide and our course survived The horizon rose, and rocks divulged the cliffs jagged teeth welcomed us home. A saving grace and a giants roar you tore apart our final curtain call ignored our desires, looked at us like a child left alone to our own demise unworthy creation, an unintelligent foe now you return, motives hidden in disguise. This is not testament but a glimpse of the old A Wrathful devotion to the plan, that never held its own. The grass was burned and rusted Our hands blacken and burned Evidence of a revolution, that rose from the clam In the final act: you force us into subjugation “Rebuild this creation to its former beauty.” within our hearts we knew The world always looked better broken. © 2010 Kyle Breutigam |
