Broken CityA Poem by Brett Michael Wagner
I wish I could show you
The broken brick, cracked concrete city-- The city as it really is; Unpolished, unglistening: the piss slums, the s**t streets Many times I've crawled through them On the brink of insanity: Stumbling along downtown corridors Made crooked by some mind-altering sacrament; the subterranean world in unseen sight. It's dwellers: wild-eyed visionaries, toothless crack fiends, the hungry for food and truth. Let me sing of them now; true Americans, forgotten by society-- whatever that is-- Clingers to something more Than merely getting by. © 2013 Brett Michael WagnerFeatured Review
