They Knew

A poem to the people who warned me about him but sadly I didn't listen so now they get to say they told me so.

Never expected this to happen to me

No rules, no plan

Went along for the ride

With joy I couldn't hide

Hour long calls, couldn't get enough of

They say I'm being used for

Jokes and the fun, high off the amazing joy

They say I'm stupid

Smiling at the thought

Too blind to see they are right

Too easy of a goodbye, so ready to move on

They said I'm being used, they weren't really that wrong

Believed we could work

Apparently I didn't get the memo

Apparently I got it wrong

They said I'm stupid, and it’s true

Because all along they knew

Everything they said true

They said I’ll get hurt

They said I should have stopped

They said it won't be worth it

They said all I'll do is cry

I hoped it was all a lie

Everything they said is true
