my beloved round table.

my beloved round table.

A Poem by Latifa
"

th beauty of poetry is that it gives importance and presence to everything in life even tables, enjoy:)

"

Oh my round table,

you have been so faithful.

In joy and grief,

you have been so faithful.

You stroke my cheeks with your wooden touch,

you let my tears sink in your heart,

you share my tears.

In my giddy air,

you become the instrument of my wild flairs of drumming.

So you drum along,

 allowing my hands

to tap your back.

Replicating the gesticulation of my giddy hands,

jubilating the dances of my mood.

Oh how I love your wooden talent.

 In my sour hours,

you become of host of  my grieving feast.

Not allowing silence to suffocate the air,

you echo with the forks,

the spoons and the knives that cut

my grieving feast,

your therapy is forever needed.

Please forgive the times where

my idiocy has made me ignore you.

I will forever love you

 my wooden round table.

'Not allowing silence to suffocate the air, .. .. you echo with the forks, .. .. the spoons and the knives that cut .. .. my grieving feast, .. .. your therapy is forever needed.'

I love this - this affection for an every-day-used something. Tis not a possession, tis a friendly solid sheet upon which you can lean, rely, use without regret or selfishness.. tis just there, for you. In turn, you dust it and polish it. You can sit close to it as you would a friend.

There's something about the feel of wood.. has a warmth, has the stability that even a hewn tree retains in its convoluted lifetime. You have it truly said in your poem, tis as warm and giving as it can be. Thank you so much for sharing.

an unusual one Latifa but I can relate to having an affection for such an object, loving one's possessions is a special part of home life, lovely poem my friend :)
