a dance partnerA Poem by LatifaI wish I could dance with my anger. Can I dance with my anger? Sway within its silhouettes, Captured hostage in his firm arms. I am the center He is the gentleman. His silhouettes are wrapping around my waist. Grab me by my waist! I want to feel your ferocious arms and Sway around your silhouettes, But I want to feel those arms, Those wild, warm arms. Together, We make the loops of redemption. Motion is our reconciler, Motion is our salvation. our silhouettes are the perimeter of the enchanted world we’re creating.
The audience is watching Carefully, Eagerly, susurrating their anticipation: "who will take the lead?" "who will reign the dance?" I might! After all, I am the center, But he’s the gentleman. As I dance, my eyes fall Upon a pale man, Everyone has their eyes on us Except for this man, Sitting in a frameless posture, Gazing hollowly at the ceiling, With no color to give him any identity. "I bet his
jealous" I whisper to my partner, He turns his head to know Of whom I am talking about, His blatant smirk confirm The recognition, "Don’t pay him any attention, That fellow over there goes by the name of apathy." Thus my spirit signs her prejudice upon the man, Soliloquizing: “I don’t want to be involved with him” So I sway with my anger, Continuing elegantly The motion of hybrid serenity. His moves aren’t so fierce anymore. I surrender to let him take the lead. © 2015 LatifaReviews
