stabbing rays of heat
bruise the green grass to yellow,
oh poor, sweating grass.

Agree with the excellent review of Christopher. I do though see too the strict rules of classical Japanese poetry not as prescriptive, as the form or structure of Japanese is so unique as not to be applicable to other languages. I often read reviews packed full of comments about iambs and trochees and meter. I tend these days to be pragmatic ; if it works, it`s fine, and I think this too is a good poem.

I will agree with Christopher Robin, and you have penned a good Haiku, better than I had, when I started out on them.
