ladies and gentlemen: the latest statement from a war child

ladies and gentlemen: the latest statement from a war child

A Poem by Latifa
"

pray for the innocent children that are suffering

"

who are you to forbid me from life?
who are you to murder my liberty ?
I blink without permission
I breathe without permission
and so
I'll walk without permission
I'll shout without permission
I'll run
I'll smile
I'll clutch my claws
into life and grab it
with a tight fist

Beautifully crafted. If the young victims can only speak out their mind, this is what they would have said. Kudos!

The End of War

On acceptance of the hostile facts
Wilson drew into his imagination and dreams.
What he found delighted him.
A clean scent of air gathered around his nostrils.
He saw tall trees that echoed a transcendent form of metaphysics.
He labored each day to have this vision until one day he lived there.
A bomb made a direct hit on his teenage head.
The war continued accept for one very young boy.

I was going to write something here about my experience with kids in Afghanistan and Iraq. But I'll spare you. Sometimes they're not as innocent as you would think. On the ground, it gets complicated.
