Storms of Depression

Storms of Depression

A Poem by bree
"

....."and once again you're hit with another storm"

"
Depression is quite the cycle
You know you're depressed
You still carry a smile on
You push through the day
Even though you are sad
You know things will be better
But still you slice your skin
Your razor blade is your friend
And your tears are your joy
And your bed are your grounds
Finally the sun starts shining
Everything is happier now
You start doing fun things
Your smile becomes genuine
You laugh at the small things
Life is happier than before
But you see the clouds
You know the storm is coming
So you prepare yourself again
And your smile starts to fade
The storms are back
This time more angry
The thunder roars
The lightening hurts
The rain drowns you
You tell yourself you can't do it
"I can't do it anymore"
You depression starts to talk
"You can do it, just tie the rope"
But you're too much of a coward
You hold on till the sun starts to shine
Your scars glisten in the sunshine
People stare and you continue on
You only know what they stand for
And only you know what's coming again
Your happiness doesn't last long
The storm comes again in the night
You cut deeper and more often
Suicidal thoughts become a reality
You have to live with them forever
You write a note
To all those you love
"I'm sorry, I love you."
You tie the rope against your neck
You are about to step off the chair
Your mom comes in with police
She received your message saying bye
They convince you to stay and talk
They untie the rope and help you down
You hug your mom cry and ask why
You get to the mental ward
You spill out your thoughts
They discharge you after a week
You go home again
The thoughts start
The storm comes harder
The storm leaves
The next time it comes
It turns into a hurricane
and you end up in the hospital once more
That's the cycle of depression
Many hard storms
Then short happiness
Then the hospital once more
Then the hurricanes again
"Welcome to life" the depression whispers
"I will make sure it is never boring"
"f**k off!" you tell the depression
the depression says, "you'll learn"
and once again you're hit with another storm

This is amazing, it shows how you are being punished for wanting to get better, which is probably the worst part of this.

Thank you. It is a reality for a lot of people.
