The character in the poem is using words of admiration said to catch the other person attention. At the same time the character in the poem indicates that has looked for reason to leave that person and has not find any and lets the other person know about it. It seems as if the character in the poem is telling the other person that it has crossed its mind and concludes with words of comfort and reasurement to maybe keep looking for reasons to be freed from that ball and chain.

Your interpretation is intriguing. However, when this poem was inside my mind, as I was writing it, I was picturing in my head talking to my lover, saying these things to him, yes. But the entire point of the piece is to express that seeing as how we've been together for a long period of time, and though things haven't been easy in the slightest, I could never part with him. We are meant to be together for a bigger purpose, and we are still in love.
I really wanted the key point in this poem to be that our love, my boyfriend's and mine, our relationship, was literally meant to exist. In a way, it was pre-destined. We were meant to meet, cross paths, fall in love, for something bigger than ourselves, and us together.
