A Letter For Girls

A letter styled poem on what I wish I had have been told as a young girl.

Girl,

remember that your beauty extends beyond

how you choose to style your hair

or what colour lipstick 

you apply to plump lips. 

Girl, 

don't fall for what those boys say,

your intelligence will define you 

more than looks ever could.

Girl, 

do not go with the common nature of

superficiality

because one day those looks will fade

and you will see that beauty is from 

within.

Upon rereading this, I noticed that it would read more powerfully with the presence of "your" in the last lines of Stanzas 1 and 2 ("you apply to YOUR plump lips"; "more than YOUR looks ever could"). But I'm still wowed by this. It's amazing, and you should be proud of it :)
