This Pain Is Necessary

Writing this, I find myself looking back at the many times I would run to my dad and expect him, I suppose, to save me from the storm. Now that dad has passed, I see that I need independence.

This pain is necessary

despite not having reasons

that tell us why

we know it will be worth it

to look back and see

there was so much strength

grown in the moments of

sadness and despair.

This pain is necessary

to make a transition

and gain real freedom

and become independent

because it is finally the time

to put away our childish toys

and grow into a woman

with ambitions and goals

set to achieve and grow.
