One Day.

One Day.

A Poem by Julia

One day, I’ll see you.
One day, my dream will come true.
One day, I will touch that face.
One day, I’ll destroy the dividing space.

But today, I am without you.
Today, my dreaming is not through.
Today, I am wishing for your arms.
Today, I am sounding off the alarms.

Yesterday, I slept with your memory.
Yesterday, I was stuck remembering.
Yesterday, I cried for your presence.
Yesterday, I needed your assistance.

Last year, I met you on a lonely November night.
Last year, I saw your face, and everything wrong turned right.
Last year, I saw the smile that will forever gleam in my mind.
Last year, I longed to have our fingers intertwined.

That night, your life was taken.
That night, I hoped they were mistaken.
That night, I grasped that bottle and swallowed.
That night, I wanted your soul to be followed.

Today, I’ll live with a smile.
Because last year, you were mine for a while.
Yesterday is gone, and that night can’t be erased.
I’ll keep living, because one day, by you I’ll be again embraced.

Nice lines....I like the; 'One day, I’ll destroy the dividing space'
Can I asked you what inspired the poem?
I mean...we all have to draw on experience ....real or imagined, but I hope this isn't recounting a significant event? Very good.... I'm off to read your other works. Pete
