Fate's Chains

Fate's Chains

A Poem by Julia

 There’s no turning back

here on this one way street
Just keep walking and moving
until you find the future’s treat

But what happens when you get stuck?
A dead end with no where to go,
No turning back or moving ahead,
and no one’s adding to the road

There’s no signs saying “Caution Ahead”
No signs permitting a U-turn or just a turn at all.
Stuck at the end until the past turns to present.
No construction of the future road to pick you up from the fall.

So maybe the best solution
is to go off road for a while
Waste some time in another world
As you wait for the road to be paved another mile.

Run away from time and everything familiar
Run off into the trees.
Run away from the past, present, and future.
Run away from those chains of fate and let yourself be free.
