A Story by Brenda Woods
"

500 prompt challenge - #5

"
silence settles on my shoulders with the thick shrouds of night, yet it screams so loud, pulse pounding in my ears, thoughts rushing through my head. blackness unfolds, a never-ending expanse of sparkling skies.

you are so far tonight, loneliness makes the silence louder and the night colder. the quiet unnerves me; i catch myself peeking behind me, searching for something, anything. it doesn't feel right to be so alone - this silence seems so wrong. breaking it seems worse.

they say stars make no noise; soundless space swallows them whole
