A Poem by Brenda Woods
"

500 prompt challenge - #2

"
i made a fire today
threw my shattered dreams away
along with the clothes that smelled of you
the pillows and the bed sheets too

i made a fire today
watched it take the memories away
let it burn right into the ground
nothing left of you to be found

i burned your clothes in my yard
didn't think letting go would be hard
but i was wrong about us
i am wrong about this

and no amount of fire can take away these wounds
