In MemoriamA Poem by Brenda WoodsDedicated to my grandma - rest in peace.there’s no way to prepare for heartbreak all you can do is wait out the days and they said you were dying and i knew they weren’t lying but i hoped it’d be alright you’ve always stubbornly survived but the phone call came through today i wish we’d had more time enough for proper goodbyes for another ‘i love you' to promise i’ll always miss you but you couldn’t walk and you couldn’t talk and i was too far away there’s no way to prepare for pain and you won’t hold me again but i’m glad though i’m sad because you passed in your sleep no more pain; just peace oh, but there’s so much i wish i could say dear grandma, i love you - and you know that it’s true and i know that you’re happy that you’ll be with your beloved again sleep well; rest in peace.
