Dear Friend

Dear Friend

A Poem by Brenda Woods
"

A letter to a friend of times past.

"
dear friend--
i know it's been a while;
many years gone by
how strange that times pass
close friends drift apart
when was it we spoke last?

dear friend--
i know you've hit rough times;
we all pretend to be fine
we all pretend to be tough
all hope to be enough
all learn to grow up

dear friend--
i'm sorry i lost time;
a childhood left behind
how did time go so fast?
how did we drift apart?
when was it we spoke last?

dear friend--
years on; i'll never forget

and i'll always be here
your friend

I find this touching and very real. As old as I am, (67) I still have such thoughts. Not all of us are like this--remembering old friends and still feeling a connection to them, but I'm glad I do. It says something about us, doesn't it? Very nice writing, Brenda.

You are welcome.
this is very touching and so well written. It really does captivate the ever looming thought many have when they lose touch with a friend. Great job and thank you for sharing!

This was real. As people think such thoughts all the time. Fluffy. I liked it😄

This is sad, yet heartwarming in an odd way. Very nice.
