A Chapter by Brenda Woods

i've learned to hold on for too long;
clinging not to goodness, but pain
to the aching memories of you
how we hurt
how we fell apart...
i shelter bitter resentment
let it boil and fester in my heart

i should tell you i'm sorry
tell you how much i care
how your embraces warm me
thaw my frozen heart
have i ever told you how alive
you make me feel?

darling, distance has not been kind
it feels like a wedge between our palms
our fingers jigsaw pieces;
why don't they fit anymore?
close, but not close enough
our pieces crashing, colliding--
when was it we went to war?

this aches my heart to read this. it's a very painful piece, but at the same time is full of love and that is hard to do sometimes, to hold 2 emotions in one piece is difficult sometimes but you did it perfect.
