From One's Prosethetic Mind.A Poem by Brandon StewartThis poem is one of my attempts to create poetry that can reflect on a modern day issue. It's true inspiration is from the poem "America," by the American activist Allen Ginsberg. From One’s Prosthetic Mind By Brandon Wayne Stewart I sing a litany of false dreams. My beliefs are strung in a system of one opinion. I still do believe in God, for you must have seen, That even the devil forsakes his minions. And though my chalice runneth over with ideals, They drink and toast to my suppression. Break down my body; partake in my freedoms last meal. I’m an MSG of sorrow and past transgressions. I’m paralyzed from the free speech down. I understand my mind is a prosthetic. They took away my words, but kept my sound. They use it for their own anaesthetics. I sing forever this litany of false dreams, In this cave where I seal away my resolve. Within the walls of ignorance where hopes light n’er beams, And the modern man is yet to evolve. © 2010 Brandon StewartAuthor's Note
