She is not me

She is not me

A Poem by Monique

She walks the runway to represent man’s idea of beauty.

She poses in seductive shapes to please the eyes

She pouts her lips to draw them in.

She bats her lashes to look innocent.

She oils up her skin to make it glisten.

She sits surrounded by people who admire her shell.

But she is not me.

I walk the runway to feel the blood flow in my veins.

I pose in seductive shapes to feel the power of my femininity.

I pout my lips to convey rebellion.

I bat my lashes to hide the window to my soul.

I oil up my skin so you can’t get a grip on me.

That is me.

I like this a lot! I like the explanations of why you 'do what you do'. It is our soul that makes us who we are, not the mask we wear, not the skin the encases us. True beauty can only be seen, not in front of a camera, but in the light behind someones eyes, I believe.

this is powerful. I'm glad you have a solid sense of purpose about why you are modeling.

I enjoyed the contrasts in this, I sometimes wonder when I look at your picture if you are more the artist or more the vixen, AND, I still cannot decide!

Perhaps I shall have to study all of this more closely to come up with your truth. There is beauty in your refusal to commit, harmony in escapism really. I can feel the powerful freedom of your femininity.
