Simply put, a hat pump is a device that uses a small amount of energy to move heat from one location to another. Not too difficult, right? Heat pumps are typically used to pull heat out of the air or ground to heat a home or office building, but they can be reversed to cool a building. In a way, if you know how an air conditioner works, then you already know a lot about how a heat pump works. This is because a heat pump and air conditioners operate in a very similar way.

A heat pump offers you a way to use electricity to heat water efficiently. Where a geyser uses three units of electrical energy to produce three units of heat energy, a heat pump converts just one unit of electrical energy into four units of heat energy.

As you can see from this, it is a simple concept that results in greater energy efficiency when heating water in your home. One of the big advantages over solar is that you don’t need sun and these systems run day or night, rain or shine to deliver hot water at a fraction of the cost.

By using a Heat Pump you will significantly reduce your hot water energy demand, resulting in monetary saving due to low energy consumption.

A standard heat pump looks like an Air-conditioner unit and uses the heat particles in the air to heat up the water, about 75% of the energy comes from this hot air and only 25% of the energy will come from electricity.

These installations are fairly easy and minimum space is required. Heat pumps are dependent on your electricity supply to generate hot water.

A Heat pump will work better for larger families that are using hot water throughout the day.

Launched in August 2011, The One Energy Group has rapidly grown to be the largest and most successful Renewable Energy Network in South Africa with a national footprint of 30+ branches as at the beginning of August 2013. Contact us via our website http://oneenergy.co.za to get a heat pump quote.
