It's In All of Us

It's In All of Us

A Poem by B.S. Hartman
"

Too many people get caught up in what others want them to be and never find their true selves. I have no love for man's religion, but I do have God inside me even if it isn't the one endorsed by false prophets. Inside each of us there is something that

"

As summer floats lazily by,

Counting the days left with a saddened filled sigh,

Wondering if someday time will be on our side,

Feeling its swiftness as our only reply.

Sun warmed days, one by one goes,

Each with a secret that makes it flow,

Occasional storms give spectacular lightning shows,

Like a spirit hidden inside waiting to glow.

Watching people passing through life,

So many lives, most full of strife,

Doing what they are told in blinded stride,

Never finding themselves and going for the ride.

Like each passing day,

Has its own separate way,

We have our own paths to lay,

That forms us out of the clay.

The easy way is to be as they are,

Maybe even going quite far,

But when we reach inside for that shining star,

That’s when we feel the embrace from God’s arms.

We are different for a reason,

Each of us distinct as the changing seasons,

If only we’d start believing,

That heavenly spirit we keep leaving.

It’s in all of us,

If in it, we’d just trust,

To do whatever we must,

So our hearts never lose God’s touch.
