Another Day Goes By

Another Day Goes By

A Poem by B.S. Hartman
"

As we sit here watching yet another Presidential Debate wondering if there will ever be a candidate that answers a question straight out without all the dancing to actually answer it. There are children in this great country of ours living on the street

"

As another day goes by,

I can still hear the children cry,

As tears fill their innocent eyes,

And we make up yet another lie.

With words that soothe no longer,

They hear, not knowing our blunder,

Never understanding the reason for hunger,

When there is wealth in others.

Is this the world we want to leave?

Where our children will forever bleed,

Trying to fix our superficial needs,

Paying the price for our nefarious deeds.

We are put here for more than this,

To try and be an example for our kids,

Is this what we want them to think?

That greed is the only bliss?
