AwakenedA Poem by B.S. HartmanThis is about the price we might pay as we blindly grab onto a technology which promises to make our lives easier. It is about the cost of this trade. I hope it makes you realize some of the things you once thought precious before you lose more
Awakened By Bradley S. Hartman Awakened in a stream of tears, Not knowing how far it reached Just a feeling of it getting near, Deep seated emotions being breached, Start filling my heart with unfounded fears. Not sure why, Maybe it’s just the times, Honesty giving way to lies, As old fashioned ties slowly die, Along with dreams we forget to try. A sense of losing a part of me, As tears blur and I fall to my knees, Making it hard to see, All the things we could have achieved. With technology, we slowly sell our souls, Trading talk for text as we dig a hole, Wondering what happened with nothing to show, As family becomes a word unknown. I awoke to a world of love and hope, Then was taught to narrow my scope, Learned to fear the word nope, Found myself listening like a dope. Lost a lot of love because of that word, Distancing is what we are headed towards, As we trade family and friends to go forward, To find a world in which we sit alone. I awoke in a stream of tears, Longing for family and friends to be near, Wondering if time gone by should be feared, Now knowing what I should have kept dear. @Bradley S.
