The Wheel

The Wheel

A Poem by Brad
"

This is a poem that I wrote for my best friend who lost her mother and brother in the past year due to tragic circumstances. Its also to anyone else who has lost a loved one.

"

One heartbeat weakens,
while another grows strong.
One life filled with joy,
while another goes wrong.

All part of a plan,
that most people call fate.
A pre-planned itinerary,
full of love, sorrow, and hate.

A new life begun,
so innocent and pure.
Traded for a life lived,
who could not find a cure.

What does it all mean?!
We wanna scream to the sky.
But there's never an answer,
to the question of why.

Heartache and grief,
of a loss in your heart.
Are second only to questions,
that can tear you apart.

Life is a wheel,
that turns day and night.
Eventually you'll lose your grip on it,
no matter how tight.

One day, you think,
I'll know the whole truth.
But this is a thought,
that's reserved for our youth.

The truth is that pain,
confusion, and rage.
Are all that await you,
as you reach middle-age.

Life only gets harder,
and you just have to hope.
Set aside your anger,
and just learn to cope.

Cherish your loved ones,
and show them your love.
Stop waiting for answers,
from the clouds up above.

You can't stop the wheel,
and you can't run and hide.
So just hold on tight,
and try to enjoy the ride.

I'll hold on tight next to you,
and try not to slip.
But if I do, you go on,
and don't loosen your grip.

Don't spend your life searching,
for answers you think are there.
Just cherish my memory,
and the time we got to share.
