Surface

Surface

A Poem by Screaming Soul

Surface

Who cares about the surface?

Divorce, scandal, re-hab and medication

Maybe we should but I don’t

It becomes the focus of our nation.

Talking heads and babbling tongues

I tune it out " no one cares

Perhaps magnets they become

To the weak and those in fear

Looking for a friend to listen to

Or wanting to fill the hole in their head

Please stop I don’t want to hear

Of who is no longer wed

Or which diets neither work nor what they wear.

Ceaseless din of the shallow ripple

Takes over any sensible light

Of salience and the valuable core

That is the molten mixture of life.
