Mistaken

Mistaken

A Poem by Screaming Soul

Mistaken

Mistaken and wrong that

My ears were for your words,

My heart was for your pining,

My soul was for your songs.

How my ears heard

Your love sirens calling,

Your heart pumping your sorrow,

Your songs in concert to my soul.

How did I miss

That your odes were for another?

How was I off the course

From your longing essence asking my soul to soothe?

I lived for that day that my ears

Would hear your voice,

My heart could feel your beat,

My soul to be pierced by yours.

So humility overtakes vanity

Fitting for my most grievous fault

The latter, a silly notion

Not to take seriously of myself.

I asked for forgiveness

Never would I hurt you

Our platonic harmony is better

Than the absence of peace.
