HAPPINESS - GONE TO THE DOGS!

HAPPINESS - GONE TO THE DOGS!

A Story by Boris

An insight has occurred to me from observing my pets.

Sometimes, the doggies lie at the kitchen door and stare longingly at the world through the windowpane. They can see happiness, freedom and sunshine outside. It seems to be right within their reach and yet something impenetrable is in their way, the nature of which they cannot comprehend. The mechanics of door opening is a deep mystery to them.

Aren't we all like them in a way? Our noses are also pressed against the closed door of illusion and ignorance. Beyond it we can clearly discern freedom, beauty, joy. And yet some inexplicable force is keeping the access blocked and we can only gaze wistfully at the richness of life through the windowpane of our mind.

Yeah, that's so true. Especially when you realize that we do have the ability to make this world a better place, it would just be a scary step. It's so much easier to stay where we are and dream about what could be. I learn so much from my dog too.

One learns much from one's pets. I like the analogy here, but I do think we often are aware of what the obstacles are, just unwilling to go through, or perhaps afraid to open the door. I love the closed door image, and the "windowpane of our mind." Sometimes even the dogs won't go out, would rather stay in where it's safe and warm.

I admit that sometimes "the mechanics of door opening" is something I choose not to tackle, but perhaps it is more than just mechanics, maybe something more like realizing one's intentions and then finding the courage to move forward through a door the breeze has just swung open.

I like thinking about doors I have opened or left unopened, or doors that have opened naturally for me, and my reluctance or eagerness to go through them. Nice write.

You are so right. Yes people often lose too much time looking at a door that closed instead of searching and seeing the one's that opened right before us.

A very inspiring and thought provoking write. Thumb up!

Excellent observation. From my vantage point in the life cycle, the door is always open and the obstacle is time.
