FireA Poem by Melissa
My soul is raw
My flesh is charred
My lungs are filled
with smoke
My lungs expand for
air but instead contract and suffocate me
They become a death
trap the more breaths I take
Im screaming but my
cries are muted
My body is engulfed
in flames
The heat boils my
skin and melts my flesh to the bone
The pain is no longer
present
I look down and watch
as my body dissipates into nothing
My knees buckle to
the ground
I no longer have the
muscle that once held my joints together
I fall to the ground
and wait for the damp earth to put out the fire
I no longer have
lungs to breath
I no longer have the
strength to fight
Im nothing but
charred ash
