DiggingA Poem by Melissa
Im digging…
Digging to fill and
empty need
But no matter how
much I dig there will still be a deep empty hole
Wait..
If I continue to dig
I will eventually find what I’m looking for, It must be buried somewhere
But the more I reach
down the hollow hole my hands grasp at darkness, nothingness
I look up and shake
out of my mania
Through all my
frantic digging I forgot what I was searching for
Right I remember
now..
Im digging within
myself to fill a constant empty need
I look deep within
the hole in myself and find all the material things that I have tried to fill
the emptiness with
But they long have
not been touched and dust has got the best of them
Why did I need these
things, they did not benefit me?
I place all the material
belongings on the ground
The purse,
watch,cellphone the list spills over
I walk away and leave
them for the others who continue to dig inside themselves
I am left with
nothing but I am filled with something
A feeling of freedom,
strength, joy
