The Night

The Night

A Poem by Melissa

Night

It is still as I walk into the night

Silence. .

Mother Nature holds her breath as I break into her surface with my feet

The dancing wind wraps around my body and fills my lungs with life

The beings of the night watch as I sink deeper into the liquid darkness

Fear..

Surges through my veins

As the lure of the night sky taunts me to trust it

I feel my body give in as the magic of the night takes me

Instinct..

Guiding my body through the dark walls

Each step unfolding my own fate

Whispers of the night confessing their deepest thoughts

The night

A powerful poem. I had to read a few time to grasp the emotion and the desire. To fall into nature could be a scary journey. I like the flow of the poem and the ending. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

Wow! This poem feels really suspenseful! I actually went really quiet/still when I read the word "Silence...", as if I was empathising, or imagining myself as her/you.
Where it mentions a 'surface', my initial thought was that you were stepping into the water?
But then I realised it could also be that you were just walking in the night air, and that it felt liquid and 'watery'.
Overall, it was a really good poem! :)

I like the imagery in this piece. This was by far my favorite line - "Mother Nature holds her breath as I break into her surface with my feet" - it's such a simple action you are describing, but such a creative and powerful way to portray it!
