Saddest Season

Saddest Season

A Poem by BoundbyInk

Fall is the saddest season.

Trees grieve the loss of leaves,

squirrels scurrying to finish their final harvest.

Flowers are closing, this will be a long sleep.

The temperature is a warning sign

that a cold silence is on the way.

The longest season is almost here.

Creeping slowly to make sure it wraps its arms around everything

Every living things is humbled

as the first snow flakes falls.

Tulips and daffodils whisper "goodbye"

They know spring is never promised.

Friends part ways.

Flowers will freeze.

All good things must come to an end.

Fall is the saddest season.

An interesting take on the autumn season. I suppose I view it differently from you, but I appreciate your perspective nonetheless. If we view an entire year as one life cycle, then you've portrayed the process of dying as much sadder than the actual death itself, (winter). Whereas I quite like the colour of autumn leaves, I don't like the sight of bare branches though.

I really like that idea. Once I have some free time I will pursue that for sure.

Very pretty and very sad. I especially like "Tulips and daffodils whisper "goodbye"/
They know spring is never promised." I think this poem could be an interesting challenge to expand on, do a sort of "Part 2", where you try to make it a poem with meter. I'm not a traditionalist, but reading this and thiking of the rhythm of the seasons, made me want to see if you could do, say, a villanelle or something like that. Could be interesting.
