A Chapter by Rosalie Santerino
"

Growing up ...

"

Bubbling laughter loud and free

Sparkling eyes

Open wide

With childish surprise

Looks to the skies

Searching for their mummy

Small child

Gap-toothed smiles

Packed lunches

Miss-matched bunches

Sucking thumb

Holding hands with their mum

Dressed in black, a big rip

Fully Fledged drama queen

Now an older female teen

Stalking shoe shops

Ticking clocks

Bus stops

Escaping from mums grip

Now at University,

Young forever

Ten week breaks,

 Wine and steaks

Left over monsoon tags

Reading books, hello mags

Hoping for a first degree

Nearing maturity

Lost in sensibility

Working hard to pay

A twenty four seven day

Holding the hand of a little girl

A completely different world

Lying in the wooden end

Peaceful face

Saving Grace

Slowed down pace

A long gone and distant friend
