The Purpose of a Thorn

The Purpose of a Thorn

A Poem by Miss Mona Lisa
"

Thorns are like mistakes in life that cause blemishes on your beautiful rose.

"

The Purpose of a Thorn

They cut,

they scratch.

You bleed,

and wipe

Away the blood that has fallen from your hand.

You look to see the damage,

if there is any,

And feel shocked to find

Nothing.

Just a mere scratch that is microscopic.

All that blood, yet a wee wound.

You quickly seek to find something to bandage it up.

Like life.

Like love.

Sometimes you will have

Thorns.

They’ll scratch and make you bleed,

but when you actually look down

You will see;

The damage was just a simple little scratch,

and there's nothing to bleed about.

Cover it up.

Let it heal.

Let it go.

Things will get better over time.

Did I set this up properly?? I've never written a poem before, just thought of the words.

Great poem. Yes I think you set it up just fine. I really like what you wrote here, how the scarring of something that seems so painful is really minuscule. This is a great work. Good job.
