The Guardians - Veterans on Bikes

The Guardians - Veterans on Bikes

A Chapter by Renée
"

To honor the Guardians who watched over Army Ranger Sergeant Thomas McPherson RIP and his family the day he was laid to rest…God Bless our Veterans ♥

"
Sgt. MacPherson came home today
draped in the red white & blue
all waited for their hometown boy
patiently….as he flew
Hundreds line the streets
as he landed, no one cheered
silently we watch and wait
for brave MacPherson to appear
Slowly the door came down from the plane
and his young widow did not run
for holding her hand with all his might
was their little, two year old son..

July 1986- Oct 2012
RIP

………………………………

I witnessed and wanted to bring
to light
   the "Angels" on bikes.
Veterans  called  Guardians..
These men served our country , Veterans now…
They don't have to defend anymore
But they have the biggest hearts
You can see it as they ride...
What these men do is incredible….
Invited by the family they attend
The funerals of the fallen
They are there to honor and more importantly
if some protesters chooses to excerise their right
to harass in the name of  "free speech"
These men stand in front of them
protecting the family…
from the view and ugly words..
They are amazing to me
Big as life they are!
What a huge gift for a grieving family in a country
where hate is allowed to be shown at a time
when all a family wants.. is peace to bury their loved one
Those Men make me proud to be an American ….
Because they are good men, wise men
and I quietly adore them from afar…

The sad thing about freedom….
ugly is protected…
The great thing about freedom
Better men rise above
& find peaceful ways
 to overcome...

God BLess Them…
and all our Veterans…

:: beautifully said, my fairy... my dad served in the indian air force for more than 33 years and so i do understand how painful it is when the work done by former military personnel is not respected... those who work in the military (army, navy or air force)... give up some of their rights for us... in india they have to sign what is called "the abrogation of fundamental rights"... they have to do this in the interests of national security... they don't have freedom of speech etc. because they cannot talk about military operations openly... while those of us who are civilians never have to give up our fundamental rights for any reason... i also feel that they become so devoted to the nation that even after they leave active service they want to continue to do something for people... the "Angels" you wrote about do so... they are worthy of immense respect... always...

I find this a lovely tribute that pays great respect to those who care more for others than themselves.

Really love that last verse

The sad thing about freedom….
ugly is protected…
The great thing about freedom
Better men rise above

A very graceful and honorable tribute to those who served.

A beautiful and sad story in the poem. I know men who protect the rights of our Soldiers returning home wrapped in flags. Poor families need to know. We all care for them and the Soldier. Thank you for posting the poem and your thoughts.
