a final breathA Poem by loserface mcgeenine pm: zoe and annabelle brushed their teeth after a lovely salad, drenched in vinaigrette and laid their heads to rest in their london flat dark and light fingers gently intertwined zoe's dark locks mingled with belle's firey head of red one am: asleep, zoe dreams of annabelle summers spent in paris and winters in their living room the glow of the fireplace reflecting in shining eyes two am: belle dreams of her zoe jane a hanukkah with zoe's family and their daughter's first production shining eyes apparent on their not-so-little girl six am: zoe's light snores disappear from the soundtrack of the room and fingers still clinging to her wife, her pulse is gone. six-oh-one am: belle's deep breathing grows lighter and shallow caressing zoe's hand, she is no more. six pm: the coroners arrive on the scene phoned in by their visiting daughter the whole street cried for them but their daughter shed no tears she knew what they'd have said: "as long as we've each other, we have nothing to fear." © 2009 loserface mcgeeReviews
