the voice

the voice

A Poem by loserface mcgee
"

ahem. bulimia/anorexia/suicidal thing = notspiffy.

"

the voice.

you hear it inside your head.

everyone does, some can just ignore it better.

maybe she tells you you're a whale.

maybe he tells you you're a f****t.

any way you hear it, it's there.

some just obey it better.

if you've ever crouched over a toilet,

hunched and pathetic,

plunging a finger into your throat,

you've listened.

if you've ever stopped eating for days,

weeks,

and not because you were sick,

you've listened.

if you've ever gone into the kitchen,

and picked up a knife, dragging it across your wrist,

wishing you could press down,

you've listened.

we've all heard it.

it screams.

some of us just listen more.

if you've ever felt inadequate,

which i know you have,

and you know you have,

you've listened.

you've heard.

the voice is always screaming.

Well the St. Louis writers are coming out of the woodwork. Well I have to like it. You're from Saint Louis.

On a serious note, it is well done. You touch on something alot of writers tend to run from. Sure you see suicide and love and break ups and manually masturbating live monkeys on occasions but touching on a disease is rare. No I am not talking about the voices in the head....I am sure you know what I am referring too but lord knows what others will get out it. Sorry I am rambling...I do that alot....A long history of...oh wait...nevermind....Good work. I can't wait to read more.

Great poem. The voice is unique. This could definitely be published in a collection. It is original. Simply put, expressive and creative!!!

There are so many young people in this world that are going through the same thing, my daughter was a cutter, thank goodness we were able to get her some help and medication. Would not wanted to have lost her. Nice write.
