Vow

Vow

A Poem by Acropolix
"

Will you pledge felty?

"

By honor of word and sword

Witness of time so old.

In the name of the north

Upon the lands brought forth

I do speak my vow

For all mortals to know

To live and die at my post

I will fight off any host

Be they peasant or king

None shall pass my blade's swing

I shall stay where others flee

Bear the scars to infinity

No god to who I fall

No lord to who I call

Summers come and winters end

All that remains is death's scent

Upon the frozen mountain top

Pass me and your heart will stop.

I can only compare the compulsion of the warrior to stand guard without a moment of respite, to the burden of the boy on the burning deck, almost as if they were cursed, however I also feel the pride and vanity of the warrior, upon successfully fulfilling his "vow", till now and for further time to come.

I agree with each word you say. You describe perfectly what I hope to achieve by this poem. Thanks!
I am not sure I want to vow for this one, I'm not that noble. Indeed really majestic!

I feel your power in this poem. Your defiance of any class system, you will take them on one and all. It feels quite majestic! I too feel a rating does not seem appropriate.

I like the nobility in it. (if that makes any sense)
Very interesting.
