House of Cards

House of Cards

A Poem by thegirlthatwrites

When my cliché words run off this paper

They will embrace you in the pieces of my soul

And I will be betrayed by my own poetry

Then you will see I’m like the queen of spades

Who would let the house fall around her

Before she could be beaten by the joker

I had to think about it a bit but I can see a vulnerability in this. Sharing poetry is so much like baring your soul to strangers. Yet, we play the game. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. If we love it though, there's always another hand to deal if we're in.

Nice poem.
