The Dancer

The Dancer

A Poem by Mandalina

Her pointed foot grazes the ground

As she leapt into the air

Higher than most humans

In a position, she trained years to achieve

Little sweat drops glisten her forehead

Short of breath

Knees shaking

As she pushes through the pain

A smile on her face

Two minutes

It's over

Gone

Again!

Again!

Repeating

The same eight count 20 times

Making it perfect

Months spent

Canceling on friends and family

Preparing for the two minutes

The crowd watches in amazement

Never knowing

The sacrifices

We made to get here
