Cherry Pie

Cherry Pie

A Poem by Lissianna
"

Just a poem I did to represent heroism for a school assignment

"

I use to talk to my mama for miles

Sitting at the table with a big smile

I use to be able to eat cherry pie

Now I’m dodging bombs in the sky

I’m shooting and running as fast as I can

I need to think I need to plan

Can’t seem to figure it out

I’m falling in so much doubt

Then sudden an idea appears

Gotta run while I’m in the clear

I put it in gear real fast

Now it all feels like a distant past

They’re cheering my name as the enemy retreats

I don’t know about them but I feel pretty beat

Now it’s years later and I no longer have a gun

But I do have a handsome son

He listens with a smile and wish filled eyes

As I tell him the story about the bombs in the sky

He calls me a hero

And looking at him I say so are you

Then we walk to the house with not a cloud in the sky

As he helps me walk we go in to eat cherry pie
