The Star-Crossed Lovers of District 12

The Star-Crossed Lovers of District 12

A Poem by Taylor Crosby
"

"

It all started with the handful of nightlock

Then things began to spin out of control

There was a stir in the Districts

And suddenly people wanted to fight back.

Then it was the Quarter Quell

The star-crossed lovers from District 12 returned to the arena

Only to learn that they were excluded out of a secret:

A plan for rebellion.

By then, Katniss and Peeta had been split apart

Their love put on pause because of the rage

That was present in the Capitol and the Districts

And the rebellion began to get more intense.

High tech bows and cross-bows

Specially customized tridents

Explosive arrows and new fighting gear

Fit for the faces of the rebellion.

"Fire is catching, and if we burn, you burn with us!"

A famous quote made by the Mockingjay herself

As President Alma Coin

and Plutarch Heavensbee call her.

Katniss is not alone though,

Even though she feels like she is.

She has Gale to hold onto

And Prim, but of course in a war, not everyone survives.

In the end, things are mended between Katniss and Peeta

But Katniss and Gale's friendship has been shattered

In pieces, like little fragments and shards of glass

Spilled all over the place, and so far apart, they can never be put back together.

The Games scarred Katniss and Peeta

But they survived because their love did

And because they never stopped believing

Their faith still hasn't dulled a bit.

Sorry if I spoiled it for you...I tried to minimize it to a small amount. There's still more to know if you haven't finished the series yet.
