Chains

Chains

A Poem by Taylor Crosby

My happiness, my joy

Comes from two people

And they are also known

As my best friends.

Most people think that

We're weird just because

We don't do things

Exactly like other people do.

But we just laugh and shake it off

Because it's who we are

And the hatred just means that they're

Jealous of the type of friendship we have.

Sarah isn't afraid

To reveal her true self

And Sydney is hilarious

Their friendship brings me elation.

We each are so full

Of energy that it seems to pulse through us

From one to the other like a cycle

But one that never ends.

And throughout the challenges of growing up

Trying to find the people you can really trust

We have managed to stick together

It proves we are one.

Our friendship reminds me of my childhood

When I used to play with those plastic monkeys

With the long, long arms

Hanging on to each other's trust,

We are like that

Refusing to let go of the other

We're a chain, made of different pieces

But we are one.
